Donor Car & Registration Number

Once I've got my donor car and strip it down out the way - maybe buying one tomorrow, I'll get my tatter to take the shell and bits Idon;t want, what shall I do with the ID, shall I get the certificate of destruction to save me keep sorning it - what ID then goes on the car when I build it and get it SVA'd?

I'm told Q Plates have finished now so what plate goes on the car for registration, do I need tokeep the donor car ID and chassis plates etc?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Rich

Sorn it, keep sorning it.

Keep the plates and cut the chassis number and plate out of the chassis. Scrap the rest as just metal.

Otherwise, if it's already registered as scrapped then they can't use reg for an age-related plate.

Oh, and it's IVA, not SVA you will be passing.

Cheers,
James

Keep the V5
Q reg is still around
I kept V5, vin plate and any other identification reg plates included
SORNed until I had handed V5 to DVLA after SVA

Thanks Guys, the car I'm looking at buying is on an Irish Plate - one of these cheapie cherished plates that was put on the car some time ago, worth about 50p but hides the age!

You won't keep the donor reg. you will need to put the plate on retention to use on a new car.
