ultimate single seater Road/track day car
Thoughts on ultimate single seater Road/track day car
Well I’ve been spending a lot of time driving and visiting relatives and sanding my body work patterns
So my mind starts to dream/hypothesise ( if that’s the correct word ) a few things so in my head I start to design the ultimate single seater road /
track day car
Sort of a “ last ha-ra for the petrol engine car “
So here’s my thoughts add please comment as you see fit
Long wheel base @ 2.8>2.9 mtr for stability and to get the engine package in
Track some where about 1.8>1.9 mtr
Target finished weight @ 750>800 kg max ( actually i recon it could be kept sub 700kg !!!!!! )
Bhp 650 std with a tuned 1000 hp if required?
So how do we get there?
Carbon fibre tub, with inboard sprung suspension, with cam operation to give 2 road clearance heights
110mm for road use and 70 front 80 rear mm for track use.
Will be reasonably roomy inside to give width to chassis and room to move.
Styling, id say moving on from the mono sort of next gen mono but not to outrageous
Wheels 17” or 18” with not to skinny tyres with options of slicks ect for track use.
Engine – gearbox
I’m thinking roller cam ls7 type engine with tuned inlet and exhaust system for standard fitment (from what I’ve read circa 650 hp with these
options) and various tuned options from there up to supercharged 1000 hp
Xtrac 7 speed sequential gear box.
Traction control through ecu using abs rings on drive shafts
And lots more exciting bits
What do you recon , and who is coming in with me ! I recon 150k should see first prototype

I often daydream about having such a road legal single seater when bored. But I would go down the route of a tuned hayabusa engine, geared to about
130mph only. Nice and compliant suspension, a bit like one of those rage buggies. I picture driving it down my favourite yorkshire road. And then I
realise I don't have the time or money. Ah well!
