The Pippa Project: S2000 Powered Haynes Roadster

Hi All,

Only me.
I've got the seven out of storage this year and set about getting her all ship shape again. Already ran into a whopper of a problem so I thought i'de utilise my channel that I know a few of you already follow and document the 'getting her all up and running again and all proper like..' Should a be a few videos over the next few weeks / months. I'll keep updating this thread to save making a new one each time a new episode comes out.
Should be covering a range of things including some engine work, making some new bits of bodywork etc Always fancied a roof and doors...
Hope you enjoy

Pippa got some more attention this week. After discovering a blown head gasket in the last video it’s time to get the cylinder head off and inspect and repair the damage. Hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks Ian,

Hopefully it will be going back together soon then I can get back to fixing the real problem with the overheating.

I noticed you've got a mls head gasket, your surface finish needs to be finer than at present, it should be 0.4-0.6 Ra um which is approximately a 150-180 grit paper finish.

I have used the same method to reface a head in a pinch (i used spray glue to hold down sheets of wet&dry paper on the glass), it worked absolutely fine and is still on the road 15 years later.

Dave you absolute superstar. Your post fired me off to the Victor Reinz website to check the specs for the replacement gasket. I suppose I aught to have done that first OOps hehe. Your on the money...

Looks like i'd better get some 180 grit on order.

Thanks for watching and commenting you may well have just saved me from a costly mistake.

Cheers.

Think I'll add a bit of text to the video that says 180 when i say 80 then give it a going over before I reassemble it all just incase anyone uses it as a reference for their own project.
