Chassis Drawings for MX5
Hi guys,
I am looking a set of drawings and instructions for building a MX5 chassis for the haynes roadster. I have looked online and found some info.
A while back Talon sent me a link for the 3d model of there chassis but I would like a pdf set of drawing to measure of in garage and if required some
build instructions for the chassis.
I have also found the Saturn chassis build manual but not the drawings - are drawings available anywhere?
If anyone knows of any other options for chassis can you let me know or point me to any download links.

Hi all,
Before posting Ive searched as much as I can but no joy. So I'm hoping by bumping this post someone can direct to a (working) download for a
Locost frame designed for MX5 engine and gearbox. Previous links posted by people are no longer working.

MX5 Build Chassis
When I was looking a found a Sketchup drawing done by Talon Fabrications (not sure if still trading) and a saturn chassis document. Both are MX%
variations. I think the saturn doc was instructions and dimension etc. that you modify on the book chassis so essentially to build a book chassis with
its instructions and modify the small areas specified in the saturn instructions. I will see if I can find a link. I think the saturn instructions
were on a forum website. I will u2u the link if it can find it.

Hi,
I'm in the same situation, could really do with Locost chassis plans using the MX5 as donor. I have to make the track narrower, but seeing how
the chassis is changed at the back to incorporate the MX5 rear uprights and double wishbone suspension, and the diff anchor points 600mm apart would
be really helpful. Drawings would be ideal, but photos from different angles would suffice.
Oh, and can someone tell me, does the Haynes

The Haynes book still doesn't contain MX5 details, but the main benefit to that book is the move to double wishbones on the rear instead of an
English axle. It also forms the base for the Saturn plans (and I think part of the Talon design as well) so it is worth buying. When I started I got
Rons book, the Haynes book and the Tiger book, out of those three the Haynes one is the only one I'm actually using.

By the way, in the meantime I bought the Haynes Roadster book and this may annoy some people but, given the high price, I was disappointed with it.
If you plan to make changes anyway, and do some research through this and other forums, the original Ron Champion book is a much better buy. My
biggest regret is that I "lent" my Allan Staniforth "High Speed, Low Cost" book to someone years ago, and they are now much
sought after. I plan to buy another, in spite of the high prilce. Allan Staniforth is the father of the home build car in my view.
