infants bed times?
this is just a general question really for those of you that have infants around the age of 1 preferably,
what time do you put the child to bed?
my nephew is 14 months and he's still awake & i mean wide awake! im not having a go at my sister (although shes 21 & i think i should)
but surely the little one should be in bed by 7:30-8pm at the latest
thoughts & recommendations please

Just got my 14 month old to bed!
Most other days she goes to bed at 7.30pm but tonight went really wrong! Litttle bu**er would just not go down.
Some times they just wont sleep but it takes ages to get into a patten of same time bed times. Every child is different. You will never understand
untill you have your own.

My 1 year old is in bed by 6.30-7.30 most nights. but he has his nights where he's awake till 9.
If its all the time 10.30 then she's not being strict and making him go to bed. As your nephew gets older it'll only get worse !

It depends on thier sleep and feeding pattern. When Ojnr was about that age, he was usually in bed by 7-8pm. There were times if he'd had a long
snooze late in the afternoon, he'd stay awake until 10pm but this was usually an exception. Ojnr2 who is almost 6 months will be asleep by 8pm
everynight but she has a good regular routine of feeding and sleeping which is all she seems to do....

My munchkin is 2 and a little bit years and his bedtime is 7:30ish.
But, as Owelly said, it depends on sleep patterns etc. When kids are younger they sleep more through the day so might have a slightly later bed time
than kids who have moved to just one nap during the day.
The big trick is moulding their sleep pattern to one which suits you (ie, when they;re really young get them up and feed them at 11pm so you stand
half a chance of getting through the night without having to get up)

+1, but with some exceptions. We do bath bottle and bed every night at 7ish, never have trouble getting him down (8months), he gets very grumpy if we
keep him up. However if we are out, being in company keeps him happy til 9ish. This would be rare, less than once a month.

8 year old and 3 year old ,,,
3 year old goes up usually about half 7 - 8 , 8 year old usually half hour after ...
routine is the key ... bath, supper, story bed ... so the wife tells me anyway

18 month daughter goes between 6.30 and 7.
Then 5 yo boy between 7 and 7.30
Then 8 yo boy between 7.30 and 8.
But as above, its routine that counts.
And if you do enough to wear them out they are ready for bed by then, and the parents are ready for them to be in bed by then

We have an almost 8 year old daughter.
9.00 bedtime is enforced rigidly.
We have a CD of Disney Princess tunes which she gets to listen to in bed. It's like a musical cosh. As soon as it starts, she drifts off with
thoughts of castles and fairy tales swimming around her head.
We have used that faithfully for about 4 years now.
As others have said, routine is critical.
If they get used to having their own way, it's difficult to break.

Keep them off the caffeine too! Got 4 of them critters, not one of them slept through the night until they were 3. Tried to get them to bed before 9
when they were young -- any earlier and they’d be up at the crack of dawn (just before the chickens). The youngest is now 16 – I insist he’s in bed
before midnight. Just a couple years to go and we’ll be childless again… whoohoo – suckers!

I agree with the other lads routine, routine, routine.
7pm every night on the dot. 6pm milk, 615 bath, 645 story time, 7 lights out.

Got to agree with the above. Those e numbers can be a pain in the arse.
Hannah my oldest at 6 yrs is brill, never really had a problem. There is the occasional night where she will re appear in the lounge but its straight
back to bed. Blake at 2 1/2 was a lot harder but he is getting there. again routine. The worst thing for them is a power nap even if its only 10mins
Ifind that it can prolong bed time by a good hour.
I have decided to call my Westfeild "The Caterhammer" Hopefully it will

My 15 year old son's bed time starts at 6:30 rigidly and he's in bed by 7:00. It has been this way for months and he goes to sleep
without fuss, though sometimes sings for a while first. The only exception was my Brother in Law's wedding where he was the life and sould of
the party and on the dance floor untill 11:30

Mine are 3 and 5 and both are in bed and lights out at 7:15 every night, however the only downside is the 3 year old is always up at 6:15.

At 15 years of age, I bet he sings a little bit if he's in bed at 7.00.
I should imagine it's the blues he's singing.
"My old man done sent me.
Yeah he sent me to bed.
7.00 everrryy night.
I shoulda been out sh*gg*n' instead."
Sorry, just havin' a laugh

my little girl has just turned 4 and shes up with me at 06:45am and she goes to bed when she is tired, anything between 9-10pm
if she was in bed by 7ish like some of you guys kids then i simply would not see her 6 days a week
But she has never seemed to need much sleep just like me

No problem getting 1 1/2 year old lad to bed between 7-8pm, but keeping him asleep until 7am is a problem. In fact 7am is a nice lie in!
So if anyone has any tips to stop them waking up at 1am, 3am, 4.30, 5.45 will be appreciated.

Both my kids (18 months and 5 years old) go to bed at 7pm every night and mostly get up at 7.30am every morning. Luckily they have both done this
since they were knee high to a grass hopper! :-)
