Will Zetec 1.8 ECU + loom work for a 2.0 Zetec?

I have a ECU with wiring loom for sale. They come from a 1993 Mondeo 1.8 (silvertop).

Now I have someone who might be able to use it for his 2.0 silvertop. Will the 1.8 wiring loom and ECU work for 2.0?

I think the pin outs for the various ECU’s of the same year (1.6, 1.8 & 2.0 ) were the same, so the sensors would all connect on the right wires. But the ECU maps’s themselves are not.

So you could fit a 2.0 in a 1.6 Fiesta, using the original loom, but you would need the 2.0 ECU and injectors for it to run properly

www.passionford.co.uk, is the best place for a definite ‘done that’ answer.

That would be a 1993 2.0 Mondeo ECU.

The fuel map will be wrong but it would start and run.

I know someone that dropped a 2.0L Zetec into a 1.8 Escort and used the original ECU. It ran ok but always felt gutless, really no quicker than the 1.8 no doubt due to incorrect fueling and ignition timing.
