Recommend a netbook or laptop for SWMBO?
My wife would like a new laptop/netbook but its a minefield out there!
What about these android tablet things, any good? She is an iphone user so familiarish with the interface!
Her requirements are very simple browsing, hotmail email and TBH, very little else! She may store some pictures as well. All in all, she is a pretty
low tech user.
Something small would be more useful.
Something tied in with a mobile broadband service may also be of interest! 3 or Vodafone etc
So, any recommendations? Any good deals people have seen?
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Dell are good. Take a look at this website: anotherbig.com. The guy who runs it is very good.

Bought my significant other a Dell mini 10 for her birthday in July.
Cracking bit of kit for £200 but works far far better with a memory upgrade to 2GB...

Saw them in Tescos the other day, too - cheaper than you will find on dell.com
Although they do turn up in the Dell outlet for a good discount on a regular basis...

If she already has an iphone, have you tried an ipad yet ?
The stuff you mention it being used for sounds like the kind of stuff the ipad can do ?

For the price of an iPad, you can get a pretty well specced laptop...
Sorry, but those things are ok but way way overpriced for what they are...
Unfortunately there isn't an android tab to compete (yet)

I've got an Advent 4213 which is a lovely bit of kit - much better than I expected from a netbook. It even runs all of my mapping software
through a usb convertor. Upgrading it to 2Mb is definitely a worthwhile investment and you can even swap out the hard drive for an SSD and really make
it fly!
Cheers,

I wasn't recommending one, I've never even used an iphone
TBH I was just wondering if/why you'd discounted one

Dell, Acer & E-machines netbooks are really the same under the skin (all brands owned by Dell).
Go for a 10.5" screen as anything else is really too small.

Acer owns E-Machines - yes
Dell do not own Acer..
Agree on the screen size, though - with the added caveat of 1024x600 as a minimum resolution....
