Weber 32DGV & 1300 X flow

Hi all,

I bought a "90%" finished Locost in January and have been mooching about this site ever since. It has been a god send and I have found most of the info I've been looking for, so thanks to all the contributors. I'm finally getting near to the time to book the IVA test, hopefully within the next month. The one major thing I'm stuck on is the engine running rich, by that I mean it starts without choke and is very smoky on start up. Could anyone advise me of some ball park jetting figures, just so I can get it through the IVA as will probably be changing the engine after that. I am running a standard 1300 X-flow (escort) engine with a 32DGV weber carb. Jets are currently, Main 130,125, Idle 55,50, Air 180,180, Emulsion tubes F50,F6.

I'm thinking of going smaller on the idle jets say 50,45 does this sound right ? If anyone can advise, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

They all sound a bit large perhaps the carb was used on a 1.6 or even 2l. I have one from a 1300 GT at home I will have a look at whats in that.

Thanks for your reply, I think it was off a 1600. If you could let me know whats in your 1300GT that would be a great start for me.

Cheers

Mine are Mains 120 /115 idle ?? missing /45 Air 160 /120 emulsions are a bit reluctant to come out
According to an old Haynes book for Capri but a 32DFE they should be:
Mains 125 /115 idle 50 /45 Air 135 /160 emulsions F6/F6.
I'm not too far from you by the looks of it do you want to borrow it to try?

That's great just the info I was after. I will try those sizes to see how it gets on. If its still too rich I wouldn't mind bringing my carb up to you to compare them if that's ok. The person I bought the car from had rebuilt the carb, it looks ok comparing it to the exploded diagrams I can find, but there might be something not quite put together right. I will order the jets tonight and try them. I'm determined to get the car IVA ready within the next two weeks.

Cheers Nigel

Ron said it would cost 250 quid. My wife thinks it did.

Auxillary Venturies should be pri 3.5 sec 4.5
Pri main jet 1.2 Sec main jet 1.05
idle jets both 0.45
air idle jet pri 1.65 & sec 1.5
emultion tube pri F66 & sec F50
Air corrector jets pri 1.9 & sec 1.6
pump jet 0.45
pump back bleed 0.3

Would the same go for the DGAV as I have one ready to fit to my 1300 x flow along with a Piper BP270 fast road cam and 1300 GT head? In fact its half done so I had better get a move on as the weather looks good!!!

Just found thiese, might be of use to people. Mine must be a 7A which seems right for an escort engine.

My carb says 32 DGAV5E on the side of it but it also has a metal plate stamped with 'Webber 771F BA A7E 2' screwed to it. What does all that mean? Can anyone enlighten me on this one?
