Can you tell me anything about my axle please
Hi all. Just trying to get to know my car better. Ideally I'd like to get an lsd fitted at some point. Have I correctly identified this as an
English axle? Anything else needed to specify it? Width or drum size etc? Not bothered about diff ratio for now. Cheers!

Definitely looks like an English axle.
Have a look around the flange that is holding the diff assembly into the axle, there may still be a build plate tagged onto one of the nuts.
This should give you the ratio (last 4 digits of first number), and a ford engineering number that you can use to work out what it came from.
The width is measured from backplate to backplate, escort English axles are 48", 105e/van, anglia etc are narrower at 43-46" and capri
English axles are 50/52", plus cortina mk1/2 and corsair versions.

Thanks bud! Looks like lsds aren't cheap either way! And maybe I shouldn't be encouraging myself to go faster anyway, given that people
think I'm nuts without having even seen me driving promptly...
