I got my filter from a main dealer (ZX10R) for a tenner if I remember right, and oil from Halfords with a trade card. Decent price then.

Make sure you get decent oil though. If your buying from Halfords it pretty much has to be the Castrol Motorbike oil. It is the only one they sell that is genuine motorbike oil.

I use Halfords own semi synth bike oil it's about the best shop price you'll get for a reasonable oil

Always use the Halfords fully synthetic bike oil in mine good compromise in price and quality when your changing it every year.
Got a trade card last weekend so will be interesting to see how much cheaper it will be.

I always use a genuine filter cheaper of ebay than the main stealer's

When you taxing it matt? we need to meet up for a ride out somewhere

I always use Putoline superbike oil in mine, along with Honda filters. Ok, an oil change costs me £50, but for the sack of a few extra quid once every 2-3K miles, I'd rather not risk anything else.

Many 'Motorbike' oils are simply a base car oil with additives to 'convert' to a bike engine. Not good enough, they may be ok in a non-race bike but, and certainly mine, most bike engines used in BEC's are high performance race engines. They need very high quality bike engine specific oil.

When used in a car they are stressed further so the importance of the best oil becomes even more relevant.

With regards to my source on bike engine oils I have a friend in the R&D department of a major lubricants company. He is insanely geeky with regards to this subject and has shown me some pretty amusing videos of engines tested with poor quality oils!
