Anglesey Lessons Learnt
amalyos - 26/8/07 at 09:30 PM

Had a great day at Anglesey yesterday for my first proper track day.

It was good to put names to faces, Chris, Phil, Rich, Andy.
Hope to get a couple more in before the end of the year.

Here's a few lessons I've learnt for next time:

1. Slicks are a must, the toyo 888's are great, but everyone with slicks seemed to stick a lot better through the twisty bits. (either that or my driving is really bad)

2. Check your nuts regularly (wheel nuts that is), I thought the back felt a bit loose, I put it down to having my 16st dad sitting next to me, turned out my nearside rear wheel nuts had come loose.

3. Those Sprint R's are bloody quick, I want one.

And finally, don't let your wife guide you onto the trailer after not getting a scratch on the car all day, she guides me on only for me to rip a chunk out of my front arch

..and 5, dont forget to take some fuel, cos it's hard to find near Anglesey!

How long did it take you to get home Steve? After nearly five hours there, I got home in 3hrs 45mins.

Took us 5 hours to get home, had a clear run, but it is 300 miles

I'll check the Clio cup slicks, I may be lucky, my Uncle supports one of the Clio cup teams.

Steve.

Hers's a short vid Slicks v 888s

For me used slicks win on cost alone.

6. Make sure you have 4 spare wheel bearings. You'd think they'd last more than 3000 miles being as though there off a sierra!

those slicks are well worth investing in for both grip and the cost that was me andrew was following on 048s i could pull away on straights but couldnt shake him in the bends and if you look hes taking a tighter line than me
