3 posts in a row ?
slingshot2000 - 17/6/12 at 01:31 AM

I am just wondering if I am alone in thinking it is a little bit excessive to post 3 sperate threads, one after another, all advertising the exact same thing for sale!

This selfish act knocks other threads of the opening page and may mean some one misses a post that they could have found useful.

I assume that it has only gone un-noticed as Chris is at Le Mans for the race, I am watching it online (thats why I am posting at this time).

Rant over, for now.

I agree,

& tbh ...whats the point of posting it 3 times apart from knocking other discussions off the front page

edit...ahhh i,ve just seen why he,s done that...he,s put it in all 3 sections relevant to his car..
for sale section
MK Indy section
BEC section

still not on tho

and this isnt shoving other more interesting posts off?

stevegough - 17/6/12 at 05:00 AM

Yes, fully agree. In addition, I see 3 problems with this guy....

  1. he is relatively) new to the forum.
  2. he has doubled up before.
  3. and the worst point - HE'S A BEC MAN !!

someone please direct him to Fozzie's post.....LCB ADMIN 'rules'

twybrow - 17/6/12 at 06:11 AM

I agree - very poor forum etiquette.

bob - 17/6/12 at 07:22 AM

I've been here 10 years and didnt even know about THE posting rule, so i'm thinking if i didnt know then the new guy didnt.

Give him a break its not life threatening is it.

If your that anal....click report and fozzie will pick it up make adjustments and send the seller a polite note.

Have a nice day, i'm off out in the Indy.

The seems to be a new 'breed' of newcomer in this forum.

There seems to be more 'non locost' chat and more I want this, I want that, for sale, bit like a buy/sell/wanted forum!

But it's OK of course to start a whole new thread simply to complain about it !

Are you suggesting I started 3 ? One for each for sale thread posted ?

The first time I found this site I came striaght to the main 'forum' section, and bookmarked it. I wasn't even aware of the front page for the longest time, and so was unaware that there was a list of recent posts, or the 'todays posts' page either. If he's done the same then he's probably unaware of any inconvenience being caused.

I'm not a member of any other forum (and I'm a member of a few) that uses the same front page setup as this one - so I'd imagine he posted in 'BEC', 'For Sale' and another random one - wouldn't be a problem with most other forums so maybe give the guy a break...!?

Hellfire - 17/6/12 at 04:15 PM

I didn't even notice the three posts until this thread was started. Doesn't really bother me in the slightest

Yes, of course we can give the guy a break.... I really don't see the issue of pointing out the error - as you say, he may not have known that is not the way to do things... But equally, don't give the rest of us a hard time, for pointing such behaviour out - if we all did this, or posted for sale adverts with one item per advert etc, then the the function of the front page would diminish, and as a 'rule abiding' forum user, I think that is a pity...

Fact is, by posting in anywhere other that 'bargain elsewhere', he was not following the for sale etiquette, which is pointed out in the Sticky at the top of the for sale forum...

^^^^ thank you !

I never was keen on the "front page."

Personally I use the red envelopes and click the "catch up" button when I've finished.

Cheers,
