Are there any good links to pages of info. regarding the suitability (or otherwise) of one bike engine vs another?

I'm virtually knowledgeless about bike engines and would sooner go and read up a bit before asking dumb questions....

Affraid i dont know any sites but if you can get a past copy of Totalkitcar volume 4, number 4(nov07-dec07) Andy Bates did a 10-12 page comparison of pretty much everything.

Alan,

one of the first websites I came across when researching BEC's was Bike Engine Transplant. It may be out of date by todays standards but I found it quite useful back in 2002, although I'm not sure if it compares one engine to another.

Just ask away and I'm sure if people can help you, they will. There are no dumb questions.

Westfield-world is pretty good for comparisons of popular engines...

you should fit a car engine not a starter motor.
