rusty nuts - 26/5/08 at 06:55 PM

Hi boys and girls , are we going to be occupying the same camping area at Newark this year? Hope to be there later friday evening

repper - 26/5/08 at 06:58 PM

when is it

rusty nuts - 26/5/08 at 07:06 PM

June 21st and 22nd. For those shy owners out there that haven't met up with us we tend to camp just to the left of the exhibitors gate on the right.

I have not had any confirmations from organisers, yet. It is on list of jobs for tomorrow, along with bill paying. So I do not know where display area is at the mo. I will let all know as soon ( or just after ) I do.

Yes I do intend to be there, but not sure yet if traveling Friday night (Late) or (early) Saturday morn. This is due to my daughters Prom night being on the Friday night, oh And that wonderful young TrevD has said he will provide transport for her to the Prom in his shining silver steed.

jollygreengiant - 27/5/08 at 09:53 AM

Update.

Just spoken to Lesley at Newark Promotions and they are currently working on the site plan and hope to have it out (by post and or web site) by the end of the week.

Steve Lovelock - 27/5/08 at 02:54 PM

Well, now that my Velocity has passed its SVA I will be there on Saturday / Sunday. Well assuming I get a registration number out of DVLA that is.

Just finished my first modification on the Viento.

71/2 inch 3.91 open diff replaced with 3.62 LSD 7 inch.

Just need to resort the speedo.

should give 0 - 60 mph in one gear - so reducing the time to 5 seconds or less

Looking forward to Newark.

Paul

I have same ratio diff (although 7 1/2)", 0-60 in 2nd is quite possible, and very quick!!!!!!!!!

cheers

Paul (Notts) - 28/5/08 at 06:26 PM

I have a veypor 2 diplay fitted and it can act as a datat logger. My first few attempts at a 0 - 60 run averaged 6.9 seconds.

Then I replaced the restrictive air filter with a 3inch K&N - this reduced it to 6.3 seconds But the data graphs clearly show I was loosing over 1.3 seconds due to changing gear from 2nd to 3rd, and also suffering from wheel spin/ lack of tracction at the start.

I should now be able to hit 60 in second and gain the 1.3 seconds back - also hope to get better traction at the start.

Just need to test it out now on a DRY day .

Paul

ps - I also need a better sprk at high revs so will soon replace the cheep leads and fit a better amp.

darrens - 28/5/08 at 06:43 PM

never timed mine, but now you've got me curious!!!!!!!!

Would av thought keeping traction even in moist conditions would be hard work, in any gear. Only driven mine once in the wet, and that was to the SVA, and it proved very hard to keep the rear wheels for spinning.

jollygreengiant - 28/5/08 at 11:09 PM

Newark club stand plan now available on Newark show site.

Link to plan lay out

Luego are now on site 24, so we had better have a good turn out this year, please lads.

wilkingj - 29/5/08 at 07:25 AM

1. I have 3.62LSD, 0-60 is under 5 seconds, and needs second gear. 1st is a waste of time!!

2. More importantly, Should be at Newark. Hope to go Friday PM,

Rusty.... Travel together?

Any other takers from the Cambridge Area for a Friday Convoy??

Paul (Notts) - 29/5/08 at 02:43 PM

will be arriving around 6pm friday.

Paul

edit - new diff gives 0-60 in 2nd gear - 4.9 secs with a poor start.

now need to sort out a flat spot on the power curve. - due to fuel dilivery in card.

Geoff , I have to work friday afternoon until 5.30 . By the time I get home, showered and changed it's likely to be 6.30 before I leave , if thats a bit late for you I will see you there. Hopefully the weather is going to be a bit better going up this year. Don't forget to put everything in bin liners !Mel

wilkingj - 12/6/08 at 11:36 AM

I had all the bedding in Bin Liners and it still got soaked.
I have the day off so may go fairly early in the afternoon and take my time. (If I can drive slowly enough )

Steve Lovelock - 12/6/08 at 04:14 PM

Had my DVLA inspection today and the inspector thought that I should receive my number plate before Newark, fingers crossed.

Hmm nothing to do with us lol.

Looks like im cutting it fine with the viper waiting on the propshaft to arrive from the USA should be here by wednesday fingers crossed.

Ill wire and fire the engine when i get there later on saturday and if i dont like the noise level with the exhausts on ill take em off dont worry someone will have to distract john for 5 tho lol.

Still need to sort a rad out tho so it wont be running for long.

Not sure when John plans on getting there yet ill talk to him later on.

Paul (Notts) - 16/6/08 at 06:11 PM

Damaged a shoulder muscle and ligaments on Saturday morning so not sure If I will be able to drive down to Newark or not.

Had the arm in a sling for the last few days so hope it will have recovered by Friday ( enough to change gear any way!)

On the bright side, having been unable to drive the kit car, I have spent the last two days giving it a good one armed clean and polish. It’s never looked so clean in its short life

Paul.

ps. even polished the roll bar

edit - polish the roll bar is a big mistake as your hands slip off it when you try to lean on it!!!

NeilP - 16/6/08 at 08:47 PM

Mark,

You're just scared of loosing to my cosworth in a fair fight - bring it on matey

p.s. We said we'd do the Luego brass (well stainless) section: 4, 6, 8 and 10 cylinders in perfect 'harmony'!

Paul: Methinks you need a minder...

[Edited on 16/6/2008 by NeilP]

Dave J - 17/6/08 at 10:22 AM

Should be there on Saturday all being well.

One armed cleaning Paul?. Wringing out the chammy must have been an experience

Cheers Lads,

Dave

jollygreengiant - 17/6/08 at 06:26 PM

Friday night is my daughters 'prom' night. So at this moment my plans are somewhat variable. My aim is to pack the car while she is out and then travel as soon as she gets in (I think she is staying at home). This should get me to Newark some time about or probably after midnight. So if I wake anyone when I/We get there I apologise in advance.

I presume that we will be camping in the usual area, to the left of main gate and on the right hand side of the roadway.
I also take it that we are all doing the 'usual' bring what we can and make the rest up when we are there.
Did we ever sort out the banner issues.

Safe driving everyone and I look forward to seeing you all again. Lets have a really good turn out.

Enjoy.

Andybarbet - 17/6/08 at 10:06 PM

We will be there saturday lunchtime ish all being well, hope theres room in the usual spot, will have both kids with us so i hope your all feeling energetic

First time camping for the 4 year old, if all else fails, we will tie him to one of those things that screw in the ground like you tie your dog lead to

Steve Lovelock - 18/6/08 at 06:15 PM

The number plate arrived today so I'll be at Newark this weekend, even if it poors with rain. Well, I suppose that as I have only done 30 miles in the car there is the posibility that something could fall off on the way, so, I should say that I'll be there as long as the car can take it!

Steerings not that heavy Paul and with the torque you have once your in 4th you shouldn't need to change gear.

Paul (Notts) - 18/6/08 at 08:14 PM

I'll be there!!!!

Your going down!!! lol

See ya saturday for a beer
