Afternoon all

Another question for the collective brain. I'm after some 10mm steel tube like they sell in B&Q but I need it in longer lengths approx 1.5m instead of 1m.

Any ideas of any UK wide stockists where I may be able to find some. All the internet suppliers I've looked at want silly amounts to ship due to the length.

Any assistance appreciated as always.

Does in need to be a national supplier, or is it for yourself locally in Chester? I'm in Ellesmere Port and could easily get hold of stuff locally. Do you have a full spec of grade and wall thickness?

I'm just outside the Port, a local stockist would be ideal. To be honest I haven't a clue about metal grades etc just want 10mm OD and be able to shape it easily. It's for making some frames for side screens.

If you could post the details of a local stockist I'd be really grateful.

I have just got some steel tube from Homebase they did Aluminium to.

What length was it Jeff? problem with B&Q is they only sell in 1m lengths. Just waiting for Deezee to reply as he seems to know somewhere local which sells longer lengths.

I think you could get some 1/8" schedule 10 pipe which is 10mm OD and 1.2mm wall thickness. A company like PES in Ellesmere Port can supply it. You could ring them on 0151 357 1524. Or you could try Dragon Steel in Saltney on 01244 677701.

I've often found that if you go to a steel stockists on any industrial estate they will sell you tube normally with a minimum order value of £5-£10. Some will even take a £5 cash and supply it that way. Don't be afraid to ask at engineering stockists/ distributors or try just popping into an local engineering company. I have sourced quite a lot of different size metal sheet/tube/spring steel from small engineering companies. Good luck

Our local B&Q Warehouse sells them in 1metre or 2metre lengths, when they have the stock

Might be worth checking out your local hydraulics engineers?
