Looks nice, got any pics from a side-ish angle?
Do you think a similar effect could be got with some carefully applied silver or white tape, or would you have to painted?

omega0684 - 13/6/06 at 12:16 AM

do those go faster stripes actually work then?

donut - 13/6/06 at 06:29 AM

Looks very nice. I do like theose Cobra stripes and yes you get another 4mph with them on

ned - 13/6/06 at 06:45 AM

Nice job Andy, much better than plain white

Hellfire - 13/6/06 at 08:15 AM

Very nice Andy...

Just one point, your offside wheel is higher than your nearside... or is it some kind of optical dillusion?

Are the stripes painted on, or tape?

andyharding - 13/6/06 at 08:35 AM

Thanks for the feedback. I was worried the stripes might be a bit boy racer but I think they look quite classy.

I'll get some more photos later. Both the blue and stripes are metalic but it's hard to photo.

It's had:-

1 coat Acid #8 primer
2 coats EP21 primer
4 coats Toyota Celica Lagoon Blue
2 coats Honda Blade Silver (stripes)
3 coats clear coat

Then 1500 grit wet sand buff with compound, buff with t-cut and a final hand polish with Autoglym.

There are a few impefections and some parts need a bit more polishing but I'm pretty happy with my first spray job (oh er). And I managed it with a £50 6L B&Q compressor my Dad bought!

Very nice, cobra stripe suit it.
Looks like it's parked sideways on a steepish slope to me

The drive has a fair slope where I'm parked. It's not another case of bent wishbones honest

I think I bought 1L etch, 5L ep21, 2 or 3L of base and about 5 or 6L of clear.

Wow!
Really tidy! Seriously impressive job.
I was going to post a pic or two of the 325 engine installation but I'd be positively ashamed to now...

I keep telling myself that it's harder to do a neat job of an installation in a car that's already built. Hmmm.

This is much more civilised!
