laid up insurance, apparently my car must be in a garage!
bi22le - 17/7/10 at 10:05 AM

i got my renewal from flux yesterday. Due to my accident last year, points and other accidents i have had its going to cost £1,236!
Due to this im going to lay it up for the mean time. I can spend the nice weather working on the car and save up some cash. Problem is that flux wont give me laid up insurance because its on a drive! Is this always the case?

Also ill make another post regarding this at another time but can anyone recommend somewhere that will help me getting my quote down? £1200 is steep but i do deserve it.

Try here:
http://www.gottandwynne.co.uk

They are a small specialist broker and you get to speak to one of two people every time, so none of the call-centre stupidity of A. Flux.

We have no garage, and every year the insurance renewal is a pain.
Most companies flat out refuse to insure

All I can say is, keep ringing 'round..

Judging by everyone else's posts recently - renewals are always ridiculously dear (but thats taking the biscuit!!).

Try ringing around before deciding to lay it up.

i hope mine goes down still though.

keeping phone around, it takes time but someone will insure you

I would contact the insurance ombudsman.

Insurance companies regularly get away with this unscathed, however i am sure that there is only a "Reasonable" amount that they can increase. A company that has insured you in the past under the same conditions, is obliged to the following year. The question is, how much can they hike their prices legally?

I've just spent 2 days trying to keep mine on the road, only bit of good service was from Footman James when he said he couldn't quote me competitively and advised me to try somewhere else.

2gether will not be getting any more business of me after the conversion I had with them and I've now got something sorted with Sureterm after 5 calls over 3 days.

What a nightmare!

Off to spend some more money on tyres for my Shogun! Then the tax is dues end of Aug...

Glad I'll be unemployed again next week then I can go into hibernation!

It's exactly the same as last year.
