Every one I talk to says --- Ahhh but that a commercial vehicle (or Van) you can;t get Business Class 1 on that ? Ehhh surely people use these to go to and from multiple places of work. With out loading up a ton of Bricks and a wheel barrow in the back....

But vehicle is registered as a CAR (PLG). I didn't buy it +VAT as it had been owned privately before me. I use it as a Car and put the Dogs in the back at weekends etc.

My Dad had one and had to have commercial insurance (Which meant his NCB only counted as half when he replaced it). He Bought it for the same reason as you, so he couldn't smell the dog whilst he was driving.

I don't know about business insurance but I doubt anyone will offer you normal car insurance as these trucks are legally designated comercial vehicles (Which I believe brings tax benefits).

In that case wangle it so the tax benefits outweigh the two-head-syndrome of having a commercial vehicle

Oddly enough my mum sat on a panel that decided some 4 dour pickups were still comercials a few years ago. I would have thought commercial insurance would have some level of business insurance included anyway.

I think the point is that with commercial insurance you're treated like you have leprosy. When I became self employed I lost seven years of no claims, when I stopped being self employed I lost the two years I'd built up from working.
