Insurance Legal Protection FREE
ReMan - 29/8/14 at 05:28 PM

Just renewed on of the fleet insurance today and as I expect not to do full term, went for cheapest possible. (actually I avoided one I'd used before as they ripped me off but only a £5 in it)
I also elected (difficult to avoid as it is) not to take out legal protection , mainly for same reason.

In the process of doing this I came across:-

FREE LEGAL COVER LINK

Any one used them/signed up?
Waste of time and worthless or the best kept secret the insurance industry doesn't want you to know about?

Discuss-nicely

"There must be reasonable prospects of success with your claim at all times (assessed by our appointed solicitors as a 51% or better chance of recovering damages from the other party)"

this reads like one of the no win no fee type things.

Does the 25ish quid cover you if you are at fault and defend you ?

I have to say I take that extra cover but haven't read the small print!

As sure as can from reading that even paid for are still only any worth if you are NOT at fault

and I do remember in the past when I have used them (the paid for ones) when someone bashed into the back of me, when it was all over they wrote and said we do no win no fee as well..

I had a Bike crash a few years ago, and had legal cover on the insurance.

I will list the crooks involved.

1: The idiot the reversed into me.
2: the Police admin. They wanted £125 for a copy of the statement.
3: The doctor who filled in a injury form months after the crash.
4: The Legal insurance cover company. their fee was over £2000 charge to the other parties insurance.

In the end the insurance paid out over £6000.
I was paid £1200 for my bike plus about £1500 compensation.

If the Insurance company just said "will £1500" cover your loss" I would have said YES.

And in the end who pays for all the Bull.... US.

Rant over

Even for the ones you pay for they will only represent you if there is a reasonable chance of success.
