Any companies who cover under 25`s?
snippy - 15/4/19 at 08:26 PM

Does anyone know of any kit car insurance company who will provide cover to a 20yr old? Long shot I know but thought I would ask. I would like to add my son to the insurance so we can go to shows together and share the driving etc. I`m up for renewal next week so would move elsewhere if I can find someone to cover him.

Speak to MSM. It was a while back that I was that age but they covered me then as a names driver on dads policy.

We looked at this a few years ago and could not get an economic quote, most firms said wait until 25. We use Graham Sykes for kit car and TR7 insurance and they suggested just putting son on for a few days at a time for specific trips rather than the whole year. That might help you

oh the good old days when I drove overpowered death traps on my dads insurance...this is my dads car honest

A plan insured me at 23yo on a 1.6 crossflow. They were very helpful.

I added my Dad to the insurance and didn't make any difference to the premium.

I mean having me as a second driver on my dads policy... as I've shown below but I have highlighted the important point where they have to be the owner....

So just to update on this for anyone else considering doing the same. I simply wanted to add my son to my Tiger as a named driver. He is 20 and has 2 yrs NCB now on his own car. I tried numerous insurance companies out there who specialise in kits and these were the results:-

MSM - only cover 25yrs & over
Adrian Flux - only cover 25yrs & over
BeWiser (recommended by Adrian Flux) - none of their underwriters would provide cover
A Plan - only cover 25yrs & over
Footman James - would provide cover but premium increased to £820
Graham Sykes - would provide cover but premium increased to £1064
Lancaster Ins - e-mailed them but nobody bothered to get back me

So sadly it`s a no go for him and I`ve renewed now for just £125. What a difference!

Lancaster seem an odd company, loads of people have had good deals, but like you I spoke with them and they just never came back with a price. Got covered with 2gether in the end for £100. Not bad for a 275+bhp kit I thought!
