FINISHED! Sun, Shine, and photos
tegwin - 21/3/09 at 08:26 PM

So.... 7 months of pain and spending a LOT of money has seen the car pass its MOT second time around...

Big thanks to all those who helped with parts and advise!!!

When I bought it the car had been repainted and then sat in a garage in bits... Mechanically it was a mess!!!

Done a huge amount of work on it, and passed MOT yesterday...

Such a relief... had an awsome afternoon out in the sun!!!

Im really chuffed to bits with the car, it sounds and drives like nothing else....

The interior could have been slightly better, but there is only a certain amount of time one can spend in front of the sewing machine before you loose the will to live!!

So how well does it handle ?

Genuine question .

sports or more tourer ?

les - 21/3/09 at 08:41 PM

awesome job mate...

tegwin - 21/3/09 at 08:43 PM

Sports..... By 1972 standards!!!

I wont know for sure until I get a bit more confident that its not just going to explode or fall appart on me...

But initial results seems good... lots of torque and corners well...

Would be improved 110% with a set of protech coilovers and some lower profile tyres....

omega0684 - 21/3/09 at 08:55 PM

Looking very good indeed. How's it looking under the bonnet?

I know silver on black numberplates are very much the things for those cars entitled to use them, but speaking as older than the LCB average person, they always look a bit anachronistic to me, because when that car was new, no way would it have had those plates.

Not complaining, just an observation

John

Surely not, presumably its a '71/'72 car on a K plate so the plates are correct.

Car looks great!

When the car was new, the pround owners would have wanted to proclaim its newness by having the current reflective plates fitted.

By 71, years before that even, the old style plates were never seen on new cars. Ever. That's why cars from that time, sporting the entirely legal old style plates, look so incongruous to me.

Fair enough, before my time, just thought that up until 73 black and silver plates were fitted then changed at the suffix letter change to the reflective ones we have today.

the black & silver ones now add to the classic look and authenticity (assuming the car is a pre 73!) funny how different times change peoples perception.

mads - 22/3/09 at 09:20 PM

looks great - come a long way from when I saw it when I came to pick up the trailer. Enjoy the summer!

Yes, I'm having to scrape the memory bin here, but I certainly remember my father's new Mk2 Vitesse coming with reflective plates and that was a G reg. Can't remember how long before that that reflective plates became virtually standard
