i was at a customers office today, whilst putting old computer box's in the celler the office girls thought it would be funny to turn the lights
off and shut the door, so i ws left in the dark and knocked myself out on a cast iron heating pipe.
i've asked for a accident book as i have a lump on my head and sore neck, they tell me they dont have one and will make one this afternoon.
can someone tell me what i have to do, will it need to be signed by a manager or anything ?
does anyone know the correct procedure or sequence of events, i'm not planning to do the no win no fee crap but just incase i need to take time
off work i would like it recorded.
Many thanks
Graeme
Sue them, sue them, sue them!!!
Sorry, just had an american moment, but it's past now
something like this really

Generic accident books can be got at Staples last time I looked.
If the company is over a certain size they must legally record accidents in a formal manner.
This is an example one:

If nothing around then a signed statement of who (injured and witnesses), what happened, what injuries sustained, what first aid given, where it all
happened, and how would be sufficient signed by you and the company.
Damn beaten to it!

make sure that it goes in the accident book, when they have it, and ask for an investigation to be conducted to ensure that it will not happen
again!
HTH
Presumably this happened on the customer site?
I also believe you are essentially self employed (i.e. you run your own shop)?
if you work for a company as an employee the company should have a record book for accidents already. just ask your supervisor to log it. and keep
your own record to the letter - company ones can be VERY vague if they dont know exact details - you do.
firstly tho make sure you had the correct PPE [personal protective equipment] on. or youll have no leg to stand on.
If working on their site I believe you're their responsbility - I know we ave to treat all visitors accordingly and the many customer sites I
visit generally ask you to be aware of their H&S info, certainly fire precautions.
If I read it right you were injured as a result of someone else's actions (turning off the lights and shutting the door)?
Did the people responsible make any apology or amends?
I'm sure you wouldn't want to as they're a customer, but you'd be right enough to raise a complaint with the management IMO.

I agree, I bet said 'joker' would have been quick to get you in the cacka if it had been the other way around....
If the lights were turned off deliberately then SUE THEM FOR EVERY PENNY YOU CAN GET.
Try the health and safety executive website, that should give details of accident books and procedure, but my understanding is that any company with
employees should have one, so if I am correct they are in breech immediately, apart from being responsible for the stupidity of the individuals
involved.
You should have asked them to get you medical attention on the spot, or as soon as you came round and were able to speak with someone, in fact it is
not too late to visit a hospital and tell them it is a works accident, I believe they have to report it to HSE.
If the office girls are really hot, I would ask for another kind of compensation.
They probably don't have one because they don't want to get in trouble for your accident. It convenient that when you have an accident and it's their fault they suddenly don't have a book?? I bet they do and will fob you off till you give up
