Zx9r engine, good or bad buy???
genevive51 - 29/6/10 at 09:59 PM

I'm starting down the road of putting a bike engine in my Clan. I have found a ZX9R engine complete with its wiring loom coils, carbs etc but missing its exhaust and radiator. The guy wants £400 quid for it which seems a reasonable price. My question though is, are these basically a good strong engine or do they have any problems which make them unsuitable for use in a car. Many thanks Nigel

great engines and very strong!! go for it, especially for that price

Thanks Austen ,just what I wanted to hear. I won't hear the engine going, but at that price i'll do a bit of bargaining and take a chance, Nigel

Look how many are in use, must be one of the most popular BEC engines of that capacity. A good price, buy it before the seller ups it
Update your profile to give your location, you never now how many Locosters live near you.

Rad and exhaust are not important £400 is a bargain if it's good

The C1 engines (around the year 1998) are supposed to have weak gearboxes. I have read a lot about it and seen pictures but I have one of these engines in my car and have had no problems.
