Bike carb jetting for iva
davidimurray - 16/6/13 at 09:43 AM

The iva test centre is less than 2 miles from my home so I am planning on driving my car over.

I have a1.8 pinto which is fitted with zx6r carbs. The jetting is as standard but I have raised the needles one groove.

I haven't setup the emissions finally yet(I've got a wideband and a gas tester) but I was thinking that as the test is only at idle and fast idle with no load then it won't actually be using the main jet.

Hence I was wondering if I will be OK driving to the iva on standard main jets ,with the needles one notch higher, if I take it easy or should I re-drill them to open them up. Once iva is done I can do some road tuning with the wideband and set the final jet sizes

I don't know if you know but it needs to be 3.5 co and 1200 hc for a pinto
Do you know what size holes are in your main jets at the moment ?
at a guess i would think 1.5 to 1.6 would be about right for a 1800cc
It also depends on other thinks like what cam you have fitted
Can you get it to a MOT testing station to help set it up

ive just had by oe spec pinto set up with fireblade carbs. The jets were 1.3mm and they were spot on for setting up.
Beware going too large its more difficult to make the hole smaller.
