Pinto running temp?
F1SJL - 22/9/13 at 07:33 PM

Hi all,

Just wondering what water temp your standard pinto engines run at.

I have a car which supposedly had an overheating issue. I've subsequently changed water pump and thermostat and she runs roughly the same. On a long run I reach height 90's then as the fan and stat kick in it will sit at 90-95. Is this too high? I've been told pinto' scan be ran at 90. Is this true

Thanks for your help in advance

Steve

im looking for a similar answer too mate. hope you don't mind me tagging mine in

After many moons not being happy with the cooling on the kit finally sorted it

Got an alloy rad on there now 2.5 times thicker than the old Cortina one.

Been out today and works a treat but what is a good temp for the fan to cut in at.

my normal driving temp is 85

Fan cut in and cut out temp should always be a few degrees above the thermostat starts to open temperature.

my stat is an 82 degree one. so should it cut out before 82 ?? cut in about 90 ??

Sierra manual says thermostat will be fully open at 88 C so presumably operating temperature should stabilise at that figure. Mine indicates about 90 deg, but who knows how accurate the sender / gauge is? I certainly didn't bother to check it.
