Insurance Valuation?
Tried Sureterm for a quote and they want owners club valuation?
He explained it as 4 pictures of the car, front back and two sides off to the owners club and thay can say "Yes its worth 10K"
I told it him was LCB, so, how does that work?
Never had that one before!

£250
My father-in-law had to do a similar thing for his MG, just sent 4 photos into the insurers, at their request. But there was no mention of owners club
putting a value on it, which to be honest is going to be impossible to value from just 4 photos.

Perhaps Fozzie could do LCB "club" valuations?

Sorry.....I just couldn't help meself!!!!
It's Friday, and I didn't really want to disappoint or upset anyone.....
I was going to do this by u2u, but I suspect there are a few that are watching this thread with interest......
This isn't as simples as you may think, and really the insurers should have been more specific.
I can say this, because this is something our business (not LocostBuilders or ChrisW), is asked to do quite often.
For those who do not know, we (other half and me..... sometimes) are a renowned Historic and Classic Jaguar Specialist, although other makes are
catered for, we are more renowned within the Jaguar Clubs and circles.
This is how it works .... a member of the said club, for example Jaguar Enthusiasts Club, Jaguar Drivers Club or even the XK Club, may phone that
particular club (if they do not know of us, or, are not a customer of ours), and say that they need a Valuation done for insurance purposes.
If they are near us, the club will usually give them our telephone number, and they will bring their cars to us and leave them for an hour or so, and
a written report/valuation is prepared after a thorough inspection.
In this instance, it is not the amount of money that has been spent on the car, but more how well it is done, quality of work etc.
Thus giving an idea of how much a car in the same 'state' as the one being valued would cost to replace on the open market.
So...the club has to be marque specific, for example MG Owners Club, Aston Martin Owners Club .... and so on.
They are proper clubs with memberships and magazines.
LocostBuilders, is a primarily a builders web site/forum, and our cars are typically hybrids with no 2 cars the same, or built the same.
Unless your car is for example an MNR, Mac1, MK, Robin Hood etc, and you can take it to them for their appraisal, it is going to be a toughie......
You may not realise that an Insurance Valuation is an important document, and thus has to be done properly.
My advice to you would be to contact your chassis manufacturer (if you have one), and ask them to appraise or value your car.
If you haven't got a chassis manufacturer, it would be a case of phoning around car/coach builders, and asking if it is something they could or
would do.
There are so many permutations of our cars, not everyone will be that keen, as they would also need a modicum of knowledge as to what they are
appraising/valuing.
The other thought is to talk to your insurers again and explain that your car is a 'hybrid' and it would not be totally fair to either you
or the 'valuer' if the 'valuer' was not totally knowledgeable of your particular car, and instead offer a comprehensive set of
photographs along with your own valuation.
I know it is not what you want to hear, but that is how it works ..... sorry
Good luck!
Fozzie
