Job Related Insurance Prices

Hi All

I've just come across this on Money Saving Expert - an interesting 'calculation' on insurance costs based on what you put in as employment.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance-job-picker/#whatnext

For example, being a firefighter is 3% cheaper than being a fire officer.

Just tried mine, real title 'tax consultant' - marginal difference of about 1% if I change to something similar.

A bird in the hand....

Mmm, about 1% saving if I go for IT manager instead of software consultant...

I wonder if 'consultant' is a bad word for insurance...

I was suprised how much difference the postcode makes.a friend and ex neighbour moved from my street (cheap first time buyer kind of street) in a relatively quiet village, to the nicer village in a nicer street less than a mile as the crow flies and had over £150 stuck on his m3 premium.apparrently its safer living with an LL poscode than cheshire!

I also put my mother (73) on my tin top insurance, as a named driver, and normally save £30-50 a year
Just because shes on it doesnt mean she will drive it

Another way of saving money, is to make a few false profiles and play with the quotes, as if i put clerical supervisor, i will save about £50-70 a year, but Airline staff means a loading of £50-70 a year

Both are true, as i work for an airline, as clerical supervisor, so neither are fraudulent

It's funny how different you can make quotes by fiddling with this sort of thing.

Mines a weird one because my actual job title gets me cheaper insurance, but I'm not allowed to tell them my actual job title. Stranger still, I don't actually do what my job title sugests I might do.
