Toyota 3S-G to RWD
Anyone know what type of RWD gearbox bellhousing would bolt up to this engine block?
T50? Perhaps?

3s-ge/gte bolts on to t50, t50 has a removable bell housing, and as far as i know it came with atleast 3 different bell housing, one for A series
engines, one with toyota C series diesel engines, and one for the s series...
further more the 3s engine also bolts on to the more robust w series tranny, w50 and w55-w59 series.

Toyota 4AGE to Ford Type 9 Gearbox Bell Housing
We manufacture a cast aluminium bell housing that will mate the Toyota 4AGE (16V / 20V & Supercharged) to the Ford 5 speed Type 9 gearbox. The
bell housing is supplied fully machined on both faces as well as being drilled to fit both gearbox and engine block. The housing is designed to
utilise a standard Ford Mondeo annular clutch slave cylinder (Ford Part #:94ZT-7A564-B) and the use of a clutch fork is not necessary. This unit is
light in weight and is compact in design in order to accommodate fitment in the tightest of chassis.

W58 from the old supras definitely. That is the gearbox of choice and has nice ratios too. It is what most people use in their AE86 chassis when they
mount up the 3sge.

Hi there. I have done a 3SGE RWD conversion to my Spyder Silverstone. You will be lucky to find the correct bellhousing to mate a T50 to a 3SGE.
Obviously the "S" series one is the one to go for, found on ST140 and ST141 Coronas, but the "C" series one from the diesel
also fits. All these are very difficult to find.
The conversion featured above to mate up to a Type 9 is of no use to an "S" series engine.
I ended up converting my "T" series bellhousing. Its a very long story involving much machining, redrilling of holes, clutch problems,
flywheel problems, starter motor......
So I wouldn't recommend using a "T"series.
I would use the Altezza 6 speed if I was starting again although it is rather large.
The T50 is also somewhat marginal when asked to cope with over 170hp but mine has been OK for four years.
Good luck with your conversion.
Geoff.

Have a read of this from the toyspeed nz forums about rwd conversion of the 3sge, and have a search there as there is plenty of info, and very common
over here.

ellhousing
Options are custom bellhousing from 3s to t50 (4age bellhousings are completly different!)
Find one of the bellhousing mentioned in the forum I linked and mate to a w5* series box, which are stronger than a t50
Or find one from an Altezza with 3sge (versions with 6cly (1G) have different bolt pattern) I went with this option as it came for free when I brought
the Altezza engine - which is the most powerful NA 3sge engine with VVTi and standard 210hp from the factory! And already in RWD format
Cheers
