Are LSD's stronger vs. standard?
Hi all,
Quick question with regard to my spaceframe AH Sprite build
If I buy a Tran-X LSD for the original rear axle, would the internals be stronger than standard or is it just that one provides limited slip, the
other doesn't? :imstupid:
Reason for asking is that I'm thinking of using a stock Austin-Healey rear axle, but the engine will be providing rather more power!

The diff will be stronger but the halfshafts on this car were always a weak link.
Better to use a Ford English axle which will take up to around 200bhp, and it will be easier to source a disc brake conversion too.
Back in the day it was a common conversion for Modsport Sprites and BMC based Mallocks.

Ah, cool. I was intending on using uprated half-shafts anyway, but that's good to know.
Isn't the english axle a lot wider than the Spridget though?
I'm going to have to do something about the arches anyway, but I guess at least some of the difference could be made up in the wheel offset?
