Insurance on a vin number
Which companies will insure on a vin number only so i can get the kit registered and on the road. I have rang 2gether who will and frank pickles who
won't. Are their any other specialists that i can try?

November 2010 to IVA May 2011. Always been very helpful. Still with them.

Mine was done through Adrian Flux too. I tried Frank Pickles and they sadi they could not do it on the VIN. Must be a recent thing because others have
done so in the past?
As it happens Adrian Flux bettered FP by £16 anyhow
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

I used The Flux and they will only do it for 30 days, and as I couldn't get a retest within that time limit the amount of problems I had with
them, had to take them to the ombudsman in the end. For my secnd attempt I used Graham Sykes and have been with them ever since, no time restrictions
for being on the VIN. HTH Ray

Adrian flux are winning atm with £267 fully comp, 2gether are £320 for parts only, they are limited to 30 days on a vin number. As long as the dvla
don't take too long to register it i should be ok.

I went with sureterm. I ended up paying just over 200 with breakdown and legal included. They insured on the vin for up to 42 days.

If you call Frank Pickles, ask for Barry, as i believe he is the only one who is "Kit car aware" and more likley to know what you mean by
insuring on a VIN
I insured mine yesterday, with him £94 fully comp

Do you need to phone the DVLA to issue you a VIN or do you make standard one up?

Grey area,
Some area's you can make your own up, others will give you one.
There is a standard letter floating around some ware. I just cut and pasted it with my details and had a vin number with cover letter sent back three
weeks latter (two bank holidays in that three weeks).

I used Footman James, but they only cover the car on VIN (or rather the underwriters do) for 30 days. I had to submit all my documentation to the
DVLA for the application, but wait 28 days for the inspection! Had a whole 2 days breathing room to get them my reg number.

Sureterm has beaten everyone at £145 parts only! Footman james told me they will only insure on a vin number for a maximum of 14 days before the
insurance would be cancelled.

Did you not have a vin supplied by mk. Mine was stamped into the chasis and I had a sticker supplied with the kit.

I'm a bit late to this thread but I have never been able to beat Backford Bloor for insurance on my car.
Rover V8 3.5 Litre Engined Locost with 3000 miles annual limit on £4500 agreed value
£115 per year and very helpful people. Insured me on chassis number only for 30 days prior to SVA.

Thanks chaps - I've just managed to get mine insured today with sureterm for £140.01 fully comp. Declaring my multiple sclerosis didn't
seem to cause any concern either. Also treated my father to a named driver slot since he's finishing the build for me.
Did put it on restricted miles of 3000 pa, but that should be more than enough. I don't have a date for my IVA which is why i didn't
bother with the kitcar-insurance company above. It might be longer than 30 days before I get my date.
