Robbinnnnng Baaaaaastards

Looking at buying a 2008 A6.

Got a quote online, for £569.59. Not too bad, including business use etc etc. starting the 1st June.

Phone them up as i cant complete online, and the cost to insure the car tomorrow is £1664.00!!

HTF can it be that much expensive from one month to the next?

I'm going from being a company car driver to having my own again, and this is kind of putting me off!!

Kindest Regards,
Richard.

If your company is nice they may also write you a letter to say that you have x years no claims with them.

Get some more quotes, why can't you insure it on line?

It says that quotes arent available and to call them.

Speaking to the insurance company, it apparently makes no difference (to their system anyway), wether a company write a letter to prove no claims or not.

When I change over the insurance wouldn't recognise company car period for no claims.

In the end I got best deal with the insurer who insured the company cars for the first year.

Tell them how much they quoted you online. If they won't match it thank them and go somewhere else. There are too many insurance companies out there to allow them to give you any crap

I went from a company vehicle to a private vehicle a few years ago and found that different insurers gave different introductory 'no claims' bonuses for ex company car drivers. I managed to get a 5 years NCB for over 10 years of company vehicle claim free motoring and they did want proof, in the form of a letter from previous employer.
