Where to buy nuts and bolts
Just a quick one, any suggestions on where to get nuts and bolts from? I guess my first purchase will be the wishbone bolts. A quick search showed
that deals can be had at the various kit car shows, unfortunately I missed Stoneleigh which is my local one.
Edit: Looks like donington might work out quite nicely, do they have market stalls like Stoneleigh?

I've used Namrick in the past (www.namrick.co.uk) - great, but not the cheapest. As with all bolt suppliers, if there is nothing local, its the
postage that kills your wallet over time!
Hope this helps.

I have used Fix8 a couple of times now. Great range, decent price and quick delivery.
They only send by courier so delivery is about £9 so make sure you order all that you need at once.

Local engineering stores - there is bound to be a few in Wolverhampton. Very handy when you want just a couple or its an odd ball size.

l have found two things over the years. 1.find a local fastener supplier. 2.Always buy a full box or bag, unless they are the specials like7/16 UNF
This has stood me in good stead when I do need the odd I or 2.

one guy on the forum posted about this company about a month back www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk think it was about £25 for most of the nuts, bolts and
washers needed!

A Yell search throws up a few in your area....
Nuts and Bolts
Always worth finding a local one over paying P&P mail order. They'll generally have what you need on the shelf and most will sell you small
qtys for cash. They're also useful for other bits and pieces when car building.

I was forced to buy a bag of bolts from B&Q , luckily just fit and exhaust support as they were low tensile crap at premium high tensile
prices.

Aha, we may have a winner with this one, only fifteen minutes down the road. I'll ping them an email and see how accommodating they are.
Thank you all for the pointers. I see what you mean about postage costs, with this sort of thing the postage rapidly exceeds the purchase price!
I know this may be a daft question, but is there a place on LCB that this sort of information could be turned into a sticky? A list of steel
stockholders could also be made more permanent for newbies such as myself. Or is there already one and I completely missed it?

Another question related to this. I saw an older post talking about buying M12 bolts all of the same length, and cutting them down to suit the shorter
fittings. Is there any IVA issues with using cut down bolts, or is it still the 'two threads visible' rule?

nuts and bolts
I walked into the Bristol branch of Kebrell and got bolts for fitting the bellhousing on a type 9 gearbox, I couldn't find them at
Stoneleigh!
Also the fellah that served me (Chris) was really helpful. I reckon if they don't have a bolt, it doesn't exist!
A list of where to get certain stuff from would be a winner, could that include getting ironing done?
