If your kit car has not yet been registered locally, the following link may start you off on your quest. Unless you are only visiting short term, you
do not have a choice on this: the car must be registered locally.
Registering
and Licensing a Motor Vehicle
You have to be aware that this is, unfortunately, a very expensive business, especially when you look at the rates of road tax payable. This is all
based on emissions, and increases yearly. Older engines for which no emission figures are available, are taxed at the full, (read most expensive),
rate.
Annual circulation licence fees (Road tax)
As to insurance, your best bet would be to contact the local insurance companies for quotes, but be aware that kit cars are very rare and few in
numbers in Malta.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.
The vehicle is not really a kit but a NCF Outbak which is a re-bodied Suzuki Vitara 1.6
The base vehicle was made in 1993 and modified in 2013
Do you have any details of local insurance agents.
I am hoping to move to Malta June/July next year.

Hi Clive,
my apologies for the delay in replying: I have been out most of the time.
The company that I use is: Thomas Smith Insurance Agency Ltd. They also include breakdown recovery in their
cover.
Here are some others from the local Yellow Pages:
Elmo Insurance Ltd
Citadel Insurance
Mapfre Middlesea
Laferla Insurance Agency Limited
GasanMamo Insurance
Hope this gives you an idea of what is available.
Regards,
Albert
