Insurance renewal rip off!!
Just declared, at renewal, that I've replaced the 75bhp 1.4 CVH with a 170+bhp 2.0 ST170 in the Quantum.
So what happened?
The renewal went up from £105 to £ 114 fully comp!!
Nice one A-Plan

110bhp 2.0 Pinto in my MK Indy and it was cheap to insure fully comp. I suppose isurers figure if you've spent the time, money and effort
building the car you'll probably look after it

160 for insurance is not outrageous
but when I took out insurance on a 'kit' I was asked is it modified,
- I said yes of course it is, but
she said we know about kits,
she told me to reply, -no its not modified and its about the most standard one that could be built
is it modified - NO
also worth being a member of a recognised car club
and asking a specialist insurer for modern cars, no they won't compete om price.

We have always found Graeme Sykes to be reliably competitive and good to deal with over many years. You have to phone up and have a conversation!

I’m with A plan and they called me to say my insurance is due soon, I told them I had fitted a turbo, he says ok give me a minute and put me in hold
for a couple of minutes. Yes sir that will increase from £110 to £132, well considering it’s going to take power from 115bhp to around 230bhp that’s
not a bad price. They also did not ask anymore about the turbo, “it’s got a turbo, ok” that was it.

Hoping to have the same on my s/c hairdressers when I tell A-Plan it's now intercooled and bigger injectors.
However based on the tin-top renewal I'll be lucky and surprised if it's that easy.
Admiral went from £360 to £800 because one of the named drivers had a no-fault claim recently.
Not only was it no-fault but he had his excess refunded.
After much battering and threatening they agreed to increase it by "only" £65 - WTF is that about??
No wonder we have no respect for insurance companies, with few exceptions they're mainly thieving barstewards..
Cheers and teeth gnashing, Pewe10

I was ever so glad they didn’t ask the expected bhp on mine, I’m not sure many insurers would like triple the bhp of the original engine lol
