Is it normal for exhaust wrap to smoke?

It's been parked up for maybe 10 weeks. Trying to burn off the old fuel to replace. Is it normal for the wrap to smoke badly?!

If it's new wrap it will smoke lots the first time you run the engine to temperature. It will settle down after 2nd engine run usually. If it's old wrap i can only think you may have spilled something on it and it's burning it off?

Yeah, new last year but hundreds of miles on it since. The smoke stings the eyes! I'll just run it off I think!

Mine smoked every time it got damp. Leave the car for a week, start it up, smoke and stinging eyes until it dried

That's pretty much it I think. Strangely, the stuff I put on 2 headers last year didn't smoke, just the original on the other 2. It got better with time. It's another 7 weeks til I'll tax it, just didn't want it dead for 7 years like the last time I left it all winter!
