Photo editing software
As title, which is the best for a reasonable price? I'm only doing stuff at home, holidays etc but want to be able to crop/resize, alter colours
etc. Advice welcomed

Photoshop is the best!!!!!! Very expensive though but you can get OEM software which is much cheaper!

For freeware
Picasa (good basic tool very easy to get great results)
http://picasa.google.com/index.html
The Gimp will do anything but is much more complex.
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/
For payware for home use I hate to say it Microsoft is the best for home use by a mile --- both Photoshop and PSP have been left behind

Try on here.
Free serif software . These are older versions of the range to get you interested but they are perfectly
functional.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Interested to hear your opinion on Photoshop BT. What in your opinion supercedes it - I have Photoshop CS2 which is frankly a belting piece of
software!

Depends what you use it for Photoshop is superb, but complicated to use. If it's just for basic photo editing the new Micrsoft software is meant
to be the daddy, very easy to use and cheap if you pay for it. It was very well reviewed on the Gadget Show.

If you just want to do basic stuff then stick with a freebee but if you really want to do clever stuff then you can't beat Photoshop. here is an
example of something i did years ago for a website of mine. it's all handmade so to speak with layer upon layer. All the screws were made and
took about 30 mins each to preduce.
