Acewell

Anyone use an Acewell digital display?

Just wondering if they are any good on a one of our cars and whether they are suitable for SVA.

Mines perfect. No problems with it at all. With regards to SVA the man at Beverley put his radius gauges on it and it wouldn't pass if outside the exempt zone according to him.

Great piece of kit for the bargain price. I got the one without the lights round the outside and used a bright6 module instead. My car passed SVA with it on although mine is recessed in the dash (I made a fascia for it out of a dvd box)

How did you make the fascia and what did you use for the buttons

Hi Rich,

I just cut out a rough shape in paper then transferred this over to the black plastic from a dvd case, then just cut it out with a stanley knife. The buttons are just rubber blanking grommets I got from a DIY shop, with a bit of plastic glued inside to push on the buttons on the acewell unit. I made up a bracket out of aluminium strip which bolts to the back of the display unit and then attaches to some bolts I glued to the back of the dashboard.

Paul, that is clever, very very clever and I like it a lot! Good job.

Anyone else used the Acewell and want to show some mounting ideas? I found the source for these here in the USA and can get it for around $150. What a great price!

Cheers Steve, although its not quite as clever as building a car like yours but its about as far as I can stretch!
