What do you need but can never find...?

Ok following on from my earlier posting about garage facilities waiting areas, someone suggested a sales area where you can buy all sorts of stuff that you can never find locally, without going via mail order. This is actually one I'd considered before so leading on the question....
What sort of stuff should I stock, think motoring in general as well as motorsport related and car builder related. I don't want just another car accessory shop but want to keep hard to find useful stuff which will sell once established

Do non of you people live in a town with a half decent engineers merchant!

Real blue roll is about the only thing I can think of that isn't in all likelihood already sold by a (probably) nearby engineers merchant/motor factors/Halfords/B&Q/Poundshop......maybe a box of loose (unpackaged pick and mix type arrangement) small grinding stones for dremel type things at a decent price.......

No. Sadly. If I knew of such a place, I'd practically live there. If you know one in west birmingham or redditch, please let me know.

You'd think. I know a half decent fastenings company in Redditch and a really good one about 1 1/2 hours round trip away in Birmingham. Both found by word of mouth. Yell.co.uk is rubbish. I've never found what I'm looking for with them. Either closed down premises or manufacturers with minimum orders of 10,000,000,000,000 bolts. As for engineer's merchants. I dream of such places.

from my local engineers type merchants ive bought various box sets of springs, o-rings, nuts, bolts etc. I think they buy big boxes of seperates in bulk then package them up into bags and boxes before selling out. Items tend to be better quality than you get on the 2 for a fiver stands at the shows.
Consumables such as gloves, JB weld, sealants, cable ties, fuses, wire etc.
Maybe even keep a sealey or similar type catalogue on the desk and offer to get tools in on fast delivery from stockists (probs too expensive to stock).

Problem on this site is you will get a list of car builder solutions type stuff. What type of people come into your place? Or are you thinking of broadening business to attract the semi serious car DIYer who is sick of paying Halfords tax?

Do you have younger people close by? Reason to ask is i know they get branded as chavs a lot of the time but seeing as most live at home and blow a lot of cash on little cars they may be an income stream to tap into. This leads onto greenstuff pads (etc), cross drilled discs and other sensible performance items that you could then fit for a fee.
Alloy wheels, sticky tyres, track day type items.

I wouldnt be surprised if a specialist fasteners place would be happy to put in a fully stocked stand on a consignment basis that you then just pay for what is replenished.

Wherabouts are you? Main street in busy town or quiet little estate in middle of nowhere. Might help to know so we can think about who passes by.

If you are in an agricultural or country area you may find local farms etc need stuff. We have a Lloyds tractor place close by that is an alladins cave inside for spares etc.
