clearance issues with 13" TD 1.2's???
evo.rocks - 26/11/09 at 09:44 PM

I baught the 13" team dynamics wheels about 2-3 weeks ago and i have only just got round to fitting them tonight---------------- and they dont fit properly.

The problem i am having is that the spring for the handbrake is hitting the inside of the rim and scrathing the alloy.

I have tightened the handbrake as much as i can to pull the spring in but it is still hitting.

How can i resolve this?? How have others who have these wheels got round this?

I have the sierra disc rear calipers

the wheels are team dynamics pro race 1.2's

a wheel spacer?

austin man - 26/11/09 at 09:52 PM

as the man said a spacer, initially try washers on the stud to gauge how far you will need to space then order 2 spaces of the required thickness. Just think you will have gained an extra bit of track as well. Bargain at half the price

wouldnt make a difference, when the wheel is fitted the spring on the caliper for the handbrake is hitting the rim and the sping is as tight as it can go

evo.rocks - 26/11/09 at 09:54 PM

it would need going out about 120mm which is way to far, the wheels would be outside the arch

evo.rocks - 26/11/09 at 09:55 PM

sorry that meant to say 20mm!!

Miks15 - 26/11/09 at 10:01 PM

got yourself a bit of a pickle there, either 20 odd mm spacers and new (or spaced) arches, Or new calipers? i doubt ud be able to modify the caliper.

Or possibl even new rims, but by the sounds of it ull have the same problem with most rims.

anyone no any one who has the wheels fitted to an indy with sierra calipers, i was told they would fit with no clearance issues???

stuart_g - 26/11/09 at 10:50 PM

There are two types of handbrake lever return springs, large and small IIRC. I'm sure I saw it on here, someone with exactly the same problem. I'm sure they cured it by fitting the small spring to their existing caliper.

Try a search on here and you may be able to find the thread.

Try having a word with the guys at Mac#1, as I think they were involved in getting the wheels sorted with TD in the first place. They told me that the wheels can be fitted with sierra rear calipers no problem.

I have just enquired about 13 inch Team Dynamic wheels and this is the answer I was given to fit to an MK Indy

they will fit over standard sierra discs and rear callipers, however you may have to remove the standard spring (or reduce the height) you can replace the spring easily with a compression spring on the cable.

Give Mark a ring at Ma#h 1 on tel No 0114 2619633 if

Hope this helps Rob

either remove the stock spring and reduce and reshape by 1 coil the stock return spring or fit a spring over the H/B cable between the arm and cable bracket of the caliper.
