why does the avon tub come with the front section of the boot cut out.I wasn't happy wit this so i rebuilt it back up to create proper boot space
(if it ever existed in the first place!)
Also ive re made the shut line on the bonnet, extended under the nose cone, re enforsed the side where you get in/out,repaired the o/s wheel arch and
this was a new body from tiger

Why do people buy it then if it doesn't fit....?
A bit like teenagers with their jeans
It might have been a second hand one, i know of at least 1 other who got a used one.
Great looking work Fazerruss.
A few years ago the Avon bodywork was a standing joke on here.
Poor old Viper!
It was one of the primary reasons we used to warn people against buying the Avon when they asked which kit to buy!
Cheers,
James
Yes. They are all that bad from what I've seen. Just took the body off my (admittedly old, so they might not have has as much practice then)
Super Six and in places there was an INCH of tigerseal (aptly named....) filling the gaps between the bodywork and the chassis.
It will be repanelled in aluminium where I can and the fibreglass will be modified to fit properly where I have to use it. Pics here:

yes they are all that bad The wheel arches on my old car were paper thin and had to be rinforced. We all know about the rear wings being different' Yet they never seemed to have made improvements.
Picking mine up next sat, fingers crossed its not too bad!

I've not dealt with fibreglass before, what shoud i check for? (obviously i wont have the chassis to offer it up to!)
thanks
mine was ok, all i did was trimmed it round the roll bars etc
Hi guys, sorry but i am new to this site... I have just placed an order with Tiger for an avon and your comments about the body is making me slightly
worried. Any advice what to look for or say when i pick it up in 4 weeks.
Thanks.
Dont expext any quality it's poor all over.
be prepared to do a lot of glassing yourself if
you want it right or go and a Mac 1

I had a Tiger on the past and the quality was very good.
It is just strange
Are the arches still 1" bigger on one side.
I have nothing but BAD things to say about a tiger body.
Badly cut, poor fit, irregular rear arches, poor
bonnet closure.
I have spend the price again putting it all right
Happy with mine. Sure its a bit off on one side, but its not a show car and its for driving rather than looking at. I trimmed the arches on the back and the bonet to fit. All part of building kit in my book. If you want a westfield or caterham keep saving

Had a similar issue with bonnet on my Cat.
Was given some good advic
fit nose cone as square as possible.
adjust ! bonnet for good fit at front.
adjust rear of bonnet to get good fit to scuttle.
Fix scuttle
I ended up with a very neat finish.

Mike
I built my Avon some years back. I am no bodywork specialist but managed to make mine good. (good enough for Tiger to borrow and demonstrate it at the shows!) Just remember how much you paid for it! so dont expect rolls royce build quality. There have been alot of people on this forum over the years that just complain about it and never actually completed an Avon. Stick with it and dont be put off. Id build another if I had the chance! PS I do not work for Tiger!! before anyone shouts!
