Potentially off to look at a Busa engined Westfield with a friend. Is there anything specific about the Busa I need to look out for ?

i would say it needs a nice stainless exhaust and a bit of an engine bay tidy up. other than that it looks ok.

i have also got a suspicion that the dodgy looking heat shield may be covering something a bit nasty. remember that the westfields side panels and tub are all one piece so if there is damage to one side its either replace the whole lot or try and repair it then paint the whole lot.

I wasn't keen on the Ally under the exhaust either but it might look better in the flesh.

Looks to me like it had an engine with a lower exhaust exit which has left a rather sizeable hole in the side. The phrase conversion in the text also suggests this.

I was under the impression that Hayabusa engines in a car needed a dry sump - for track at least, can someone more informed than me confirm??

I would say, check the Quaife reverse for bearing play. They are sometimes hard to get to and the bearings are expensive from Quaife.

It looks a good car though. Check everything works, the car feels good. Test drive at normal speeds, full on acceleration will always be amazing and you won't be able to concentrate on anything else... :-)

My 2p worth (not a Hayabusa expert)

There are Westfield 'Mega' spec chassis and there are Westfields with standard chassis that have had bike conversions. That is the latter. It doesn't say if its IRS or live axle...

Yes, the Busa is the engine to have but overall, I would say that the car is well over-priced. It's also not dry-sumped so I personally would not drive it on the track, even with a TTS baffled sump. I'm sorry to say it, but in terms of the detailing on the car it looks pretty awful to me.

I think you could do a lot better for £9+k.

I'm with TimC its not an original busa but a converted car hence the hole behind the ally plate. Seen better for the money.

Just my 2p but for that sort of money i think i'd hold on and wait

you don't need a dry sump system on a hayabusa, radical use to use a standard sump with an accusump system.

A baffled sump and accusump set-up is about a fifth of the cost and just as good.

FYI -
My opinion / experience -
We use the Koenig billet oil pan with swivel oil pickup here in the US with our Hayabusa Furys with good results. Dry sumps are heavier, take up more space and have more points of failure. Biggest issue with Hayabusa lubrication is to keep the oil level correct and use the proper oil for your application.

You should also update any pre 2003 Hayabusa with the later factory starting system to prevent breaking the starter / cases the 1st time you spin.

I'm happy that there are alternatives as per Chet's insight but a Radical is not a sound point-of-reference as despite the fact that large forces are in play on a slicks and wings car, there is no getting away from the fact that the engine is the other way around to a front engined car.

This is a converted car, it's not a Mega as has been mentioned, it's way overpriced and technically I'd stay well clear. However, what do I know, I've had quite a few 'Mega' spec cars with a number of engines.

Buy yourself an MK Indy, lots around.

Friend here! Hi all, yes, another Jeff. It was hard for the guy when we both rolled up called Jeff, he really didn't know who he'd been talking to

Car is lovely, despite having to push it up a hill into my garage last night after it came off the trailer with a flat battery / starter button problem. List of things to sort before it goes for it's MOT but nothing much - car is fabulous and a credit to its previous owner who showered it with money to my benefit.

think your talking about the yellow conversion rather than the Green Megabusa Jeff has bought???? A full on Megabusa for 6K would be a bargain
