Finally managed to rescue the beloved from the back of the garage after a massive clear out....decided to try to fire it up, flat battery etc so put
my 'standby' caravan battery on charge with a view to jumping off it to the weedy bike battery.....didn't manage to get enough charge
to kick it over which was lucky because i found two nasty fuel leaks from the braided hose at the fuelpump and pressure regulator....hose appears to
have perished where it bends!!
Anyone else experienced this? 3 years for the life of braided hose seems a bit short??
Hi, had the same on my cossie engined mk2 escort had some of the fibre braided hose on it and started leaking like a sieve after a couple of years.
have put some injection spec hose on it now which seems to be twice the wall thickness

there must be a bad batch around I think someone is selling braided hos under the pretence of being for fuel. I know of 4 people who have had the same problem
Yeah, there has been a lot of it. Not good at all. I should cheak mine actually.
- Thats fabric over-braided (onyl stuff they had) but definatly not only sold as fuel hose but printed onto the hose itself. Now two years old (have
a i really ad the car that long!!)

Mine is steel braided hose bought from a reputable well known supplier...wondering now if it should only be sold as water hose.....
Happend to mine too... 2year old fuel hose, almost no km driven, burst while driving, not a funny experience.
Get some SAE J30 R7 spec hose, less won't do.
Are people buying fuel hose designed for unleaded?
My local hose place (*) has two types of fuel hose - one for 'fuel' and one for 'unleaded' fuel. Different certifications on the
hose. Unleaded is supposed to be quite a toxic / aggressive liquid.
(*) I would buy some - but they sell it in 100m lengths.
