Looking to buy new wheels from mac 1 have placed the order for them with t1s tyres.
was going to go for R888 but can not decide.
I will prob do a couple of track days per year and the rest on the road.
Mark said the t1s is good alround tyre and will perform on the track and i trust his advice.
But just need a little more convincing??
so the question is which ones to go for?????.

t1s/r for road, r888 for track and not wet weather!
I have the trs's which i feel will be a good combination of grip & style.
the t1s might be ok for your first track day but after that when you start getting faster you will want more grip.go for the r888's ,you know you

I do want the r888 eithin the budget so ok.
but just thinking if only used a couple of time a year on track the extra cost for the r888 covers a 2nd set of t1s.
still do not know what to do.
if the t1s are good for the track and road i suppose i should go for them,
but the r888 look cool too got what a dilema.
Have they really got that much more grip.
If so that should answer my question shouldn't it.

I've used R888s as fast road tyres on my evo. They were no good as track tyres on it as the car was too damn heavy!
I'm going to put R888s or Yoko A048Rs I'm not sure which yet.
Agree with all the above, also something else to consider is wear rate, 888's don't have a lot of tread to start with, and will wear out
alarmingly fast compared to T1's.
Doubt you will need more grip on the highway than T1's will provide, and their not too shoddy for trackdays (think big leary 4 wheel slides)
R888's all the way for the track, just bought 4 myself, they are excellent , if you are going mainly on the road then T1-RS is the way to go.
as alan says regarding the tread depth, in addition i think r888s will be crap if you ever have the misfortune of hitting a puddle! Great in the dry
though. One chap only got 500 miles out of a set though
using t1s at the moment excellent road tyre that will perform really well on track may lack ultimate grip of 888's but a much better compromise
for uk weather (red hot rainy etc)
The quotes re wet weather is very true.
I had to take the R888s off the evo in the winter months as the car felt like it was driving on ice in really heavy rain.
With surface water it was fine but anything else and it was a bit hairy so I'd hate to think what it would be like in the wet in a bec

what sort of miles can i expect from the r888 tyres.
will mainly be used on the road,
i understand they will get eaten up on the track but they will be used 75% on the road 25% track.

2-3000 depending on how hard you drive it...
you can eat them up much quicker tho, but on a se7en the weight gives you better longevity
ACB10's or A048's would be my track tyre choice
I found R888s to be Ok in the wet, not great, but predictable and you get plenty of warning of what they're doing.
I wouldn't bother with getting a wet tyre unless you *plan* to spend a lot of time driving in the wet because wet tyres are usually not very good
in the dry.
Have you tried the new Kumho ? Can't remember the model, V70 or something, but they have a new softer compound with a normal tread it looks like
a normal wet tyre but sticks better than the R888s in the dry. Mileage won't be very good.
