I think you need to be a bit more specific, as there is/has been a huge range - original style, nano, touch, shuffle - in several versions each over time.
One that works and isn't the size of a brick.

Hi Craig. I've got a 6GB Ipod mini in a drawer...............
What do you actually need of it ? Some are simple music/video players but others do
more. The Touch is pretty much an Iphone without the phone bit.
