Stupid Excel question
Ivan - 13/10/10 at 09:19 AM

I have an Excel 2007 spreadsheet with 75000 rows of data across 50 columns in it.

I have created a new column and want to fill it with a formula - it is not practical to drag the formula down all 75000 rows (takes forever and causes my finger to start shaking holding down the mouse button) - is there short-cut way to fill the column with the formula?

copy the formula you want in the column. Then select the column by clicking the header and then paste.

Job done.

ye just work out the formula for the first line and copy it (ctrl c)

then highlight the whole column and click paste.

will take a while but will do it all for ye.

Copy for cell/forumla,
Select the first empty Cell,
go down to the bottom, hold down shift, select the bottom cell, then paste?

easiest way - hover over the bottom right hand corner of the cell with the formula in, a black cross will appear then double click and it will go all the way to the end of the data, job done

nb: any breaks or gaps in the data then it stops at the gaps. Cheers Gareth
