By hand or machine?

Gtechniq P1 works very well on gel coat.

By hand will take time, using a DA/Rotary will be alot quicker and will leave a better finish.

Once all done, I would look at something like Carlack 68 to protect it.

I have detailed a few kit cars, so if you need more info etc, drop me a U2U.

Would the above products work on this....

It actually rubs off its that thick but what's the end result likely to be like?

I would give that a good degrease (Fairy liquid) wash first, then clay it before touching it with a compound.

That will need either ALOT of elbow grease or machine work.

Without seeing it in person, I would go for P1 with a heavy cut pad followed with P1 and a finishing pad to refine the finish.

You will need a clean (warm water) bucket to clean the pads of the oxidised gel coat. A clean pad will "cut" better and leave a better final finish.

On the bright side, gel coat is alot thicker than automotive paint, just watch the heat build up, dont let it get too hot.

With time and the right products, you should get that back to (or at least close) to when it was first made.

I would grey scotch it wet with prep and blend, then machine polish it with Farecla G3, all 3 products available at your local paint factors - will come up like new
