Cheapest Tintop Banger Insurance
ReMan - 27/2/10 at 11:32 AM

Having bought the Cinquechenthoho,
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=130595
I thought I'd run it for a while on nice cheap 3rd party insurance while I save a bit on petrol against the fast but thirsty SAAB and work out how to fit the bike engine.

Well I cant believe the quotes I'm getting
£175 for a £300 car, cheaper for fully comp than third party, ignores NCB on main car it's completely Fu**ed up!!

Any suggestions?
Multi car policy with Admiral is a posibility, but the timing is wrong with my and swimbos main cars....

I was 27, 9 years of holding a license but never drove in UK.

Also, I had started getting gray hair as well.

When you get to below £200 you will struggle to get it much lower unless its very limited on cover, miliage etc.

I have three cars

Audi A4 TDi (£1200)
Mazda RX7 (£3000)
Striker kit car (£8000)

All come in around the £160-200 mark regardless of how much I change the details of the insurance. That's my experience of insuring cars recently.

Remember, you are not just insuring your car, but every other car on the road that you may hit. So the value of your car is not really relevant.

I fully agree.
So there must be a minimum, that it costs to cover the third party risks, thats what I want to pay.
So why is it cheaper to cover myself fully comp, which obviously includes gamaging my own vehicle?

So few companies seem to do 3rd party insurance these days i just wouldnt even try. I think you'd be better looking for a company fully comp who will give you an introductory discount as a 2nd car.

Why not try your current insurer - tell them the score and see what they come up with.

Yes I'd pay that.
Problem is they wont give any NCB as it's used on the main car.
Despite no A,C,or C etc etc etc
"you have to earn it on this vehicle too"
Wouldnt mind , but if you have a claim anywhere you have to declare it against all insurances.

Well if you damage a £300 car it's going to cost them about half that to get a list of the damages. Bang it's written off.

Also if your car costs £300 do you really give two s**ts about denting it?
