ABS warning light Audi Cabrio
DanP - 16/12/09 at 07:21 PM

Hiya,

The ABS warning light in my '95 Audi Cabrio came on this morning (particularly cold morning here) and has been on since.

When you turn the key to the run position all the lights come on as normal and then go out (airbag, abs etc) but when I start the engine the ABS one comes back on.

Does anyone have any idea what may have happened? or a locost way to read the fault codes? or know any good audi specialists in the southampton/portsmouth/fareham area?

I was going to have a look at the sensors and check the connections and distances,
does anyone know if the light will go out if the fault goes away? or will i need to have the error reset before i can tell if the problem has gone away?

Thanks,
Dan

Assuming it is not a controlbox fault, to come on witout moving sugeest wheel sensor disconnected.
Does the abs still work?

I had this on my A4.

It was the wire from the front wheel that had rubbed through as it hadn't been clipped into the slot on the upright.

You can see the front ones on full lock (mine was a front one), the garage hadn't clipped it after they had replaced a CV joint boot.

The fix is easy and a justification for your locost habit, and much easier than replacing the whole cable.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've had a quick look at the front cables and they look ok, I will have to dig a bit deeper tomorrow and check out the back cables and all the connections

Thanks again,
Dan
