Kind of car related, its for a truck.
I need to design a vehicle door that pulls out and swings to one side. I believe these are called pantograph hinges. The kind of thing found on race
transporter belly lockers for opening doors parallel to the body.
I have googled for info on them, but all I get is a couple of crappy pictures and no real detail of the hinge mechanism
So has anyone got some good photos of the mechanism, or engineering drawings?
I am going to model the mechanism on Solidworks, but I need a good starting point. Can you locostbuilders help?
Thanks in advance.
why not use the hinge from an old coach bus door? like this -
Thats the sort of thing I want, but I need details of the actual mechanism.
Or this...
but again, I need details of the mechanism only

Genting very close Mr Whippy, thanks. just need to rotate and enhance like on CSI
Amagingly if you do a google images search for "pantograph door hinge"... it magically brings up quite a bit of information... some of it looks like it might be relevant!
Isn't what you are looking for a parallelogram, as opposed to a pantograph?
Pantograph is just a scissor mechanism as on the pick-up on leccy choo choos.
Or something like this any good?:

sorted now, i just made up my own model and it seems to work fine.
if i remember right the bus doors are just like a J shape arm? i forget how it keeps the door parallel to the side of the bus though
