I'm after some rough price estimates for what my Indy with a ZX12 motor would be worth in two different states -
A) as a track toy
B) IVA'd and registered
It's a fairly standard car with LSD, all round discs but nothing exceptionally shiny on it.
Basically I have a few grand spare and was thinking I might buy something like a Defender with a trailer to take it to track days, and that way I also
have a September to March toy too.
Alternatively the cash I have spare could get it through IVA but if it's not going to improve the value massively then I might not bother.
There's also a bit of a moral dilemma in that my missus has lost a few friends in accidents and my dad also would prefer if I just used it on the
track.
i always look at it that the iva makes it worth something. without being road legal it's worth as much as the parts cost to build it but make it road legal and you probably stick £1500 - £2000 on the price.
One never knows the future, but IVA makes it a lot easier to sell if need be down the road. Not being pessimistic, but it gives you a bit of insurance, even if it costs a bit to do.
I'm with the other guys, and you'll get more enjoyment out of it with an IVA. A car is worth very little if its not legal for the road as most people expect that as a bare minimum, plus, I would have though most people buying completed kitcars are doing so to bypass all the work that goes into them, so won't want to have to IVA it.
have you already bought the means to give it a form of reverse? As although a finished car might be worth more it will cost approx £1000 for
reverse/prop and £500 to IVA.
There is your £1500...
difficult one, but its fun on the roads.
